It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

Singapore

Well we have done a complete circle, back in Singapore where we started in October. There wasn’t a plan to come back here at this time but that’s how this trip has evolved. When we were in Borneo someone at the hostel we were staying at said ‘why aren’t you going to Sumatra, it’s amazing’ so we ended up there, then while we were there the woman in the bike rental place said the Xmas lights in Singapore where really good, so here we are!

When here in Oct we spent most of our time around the Chinatown area so headed back there for 3 nights.

Singapore city is very clean and organised and a little clinical, so having this district, with loads of bustle, lights, cafes, and atmosphere right within it is great.

We didn’t waste any time and although it was absolutely throwing it down we headed off to Gardens by the bay.

The venue which is open all year and is a garden complex with living towers set next to Singapore bay had a ‘winter wonderland’ event on, with Christmas music and light displays.

Then there were displays around the park,

I found my perfect Christmas present.

and Richard made a friend

Merry Xmas!

I’m not sure if this is a travel blog, or a story of doing the things in life that you dream about, but you never quite manage to achieve them. But then you do! We’ve set this page up for friends and family to track our travels. If you don’t know us but have found your way to our site, I’m Nick and I’m traveling with my husband Richard. We are both the wrong side of 50 and have managed to arrange a year off work to take some time out. I’ve never written a blog and when on holiday struggle to manage a decent email home so not sure how this will go! But it is going to be a record of our travels, we have no plan, no route to follow, it will just evolve as we go along.
